Cat and Kyle were introduced by Madi, Cat’s sister; and Pedro, Madi’s high school sweetheart (now husband) who also happened to be Kyle’s college classmate, then roommate, and now best man.
Cat and her older sister have always been close. Madi, who is 2.5 years older (but 3.5 inches shorter), slept on the top bunk, right over Cat's head, up until leaving for college at NC State in 2014. Once Madi moved out, Cat would often go and spend the weekend with her; first in her freshman year dorm room, then in a number of apartments, and finally at the beloved Brent Road House.
Cat and Kyle’s story starts with Madi and Pedro’s failed attempt at setting the two up on a blind date. Madi and Pedro, now in their third year of college, thought the two might have potential, but a blind date sounded nightmarish to Cat and Kyle.
In Spring of 2016, Pedro lived in a dorm on Centennial Campus with three roommates, one of whom was Kyle; and Cat was a senior in high school, preparing for graduation and moving away to college at Appalachian. One weekend in March, Cat was going to visit Madi; and Madi and Pedro decided this was the perfect opportunity for the four to get together.
A couple months later, Cat and Kyle were going on their first date to see The 1975 at Red Hat Amphitheater; and, when Cat left for college at the end of the summer, she and Kyle naively agreed to give long distance a shot.
After four years of long distance and many weekend trips – first between Raleigh and Boone and then between Boone and Knoxville – Cat graduated from Appalachian and joined Kyle in Knoxville where he was working and where she would complete her M.Arch degree at UTK.
In 2023, the pair relocated to Atlanta where, after nearly ten years together, they’re tying the knot!
